About:
Jeremy Balius was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1979, raised in Gießen, Germany, educated in Los Angeles, California, and now resides in Perth, Western Australia. He’s currently finalising a Master of Communications at Griffith University, Queensland. Jeremy founded Black Rider Press in 2009. His translation of Sandra Rudolph’s The Adventures of Kaisu and Kalle – Journey to the South Pole was published by NSD Enterprises in 2008. Short fiction and poetry have been anthologised and/or published in different journals, which you may or may not have read. He can neither confirm, nor deny, any involvement with English-language / German bi-lingual ‘zine Shelf 8. Running-up at Perth Slam Poetry 2009, Jeremy has performed spoken word with WAMI award winning electro-jazz band Cloud Kollektiv, with Perth contemporary dance company Visible Dance, and has been the featured guest-poet at various spoken word events in Perth. He and his brother J.Black were once booed off the stage at the largest bhangra festival in the Southern hemisphere. Rabbit Island is the band Jeremy’s sometimes affiliated with; a band which has been compared to the soundtrack of your bike-ride to your best friend’s pizza party.
